There are fifteen Indian Visa Application Centers (IVAC) in Bangladesh operated by the State Bank of India. They are located in Indian Visa Application Centers – Dhaka, Jessore, Khulna, Mymensingh, Barisal, Sylhet, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Comilla, Noakhali, Brahmanbaria, Satkhira, Bogra, Thakurgaon and New location is kustia.

All Indian visa categories are accepted on a walk-in basis.

Bangladeshi passport holders residing in other divisions of Bangladesh (except Chittagong Division, Rajshahi Division, Sylhet Division, Khulna Division) can apply for visa holders at Indian Visa Application Centres- Dhaka/IVAC, Mymensingh/IVAC, Jessore/IVAC, Barisal. Residents of the Chittagong division can apply for visa at IVAC, Chittagong. Bangladeshi citizens residing in Rajshahi Division can apply for visa at IVAC, Rajshahi/IVAC, Rangpur. Applicants residing in Comilla, Noakhali, Brahmanbaria, Satkhira, Bogra, and Thakurgaon can apply from Indian Visa Application Centers in their districts. Bangladeshi citizens residing in the Sylhet division can apply for visa at IVAC, Sylhet. Bangladeshi citizens residing in the Khulna division can apply for visa at IVAC, Khulna.

Other foreign nationals can apply for visa at Indian Visa Application Center- Dhaka (Yamuna Future Park) and Indian Visa Application Center, Chittagong.

There is no visa fee for Bangladeshi passport holders applying for Indian visa.

Other foreign nationals are required to pay visa fee unless they are exempted from payment of visa fee under Government of India order.

All persons applying for a visa at any IVAC in Bangladesh are required to pay a Visa Processing Fee (VPF).

Applicants will be required to come to the visa center due to 10 finger biometric data and visa applicants will be photographed while submitting the visa application at IVAC. This process is running only in IVAC Dhaka, Khulna, Rajshahi, Bogra, Thakurgaon, Rangpur, Chittagong, Comilla, Brahmanbaria, Noakhali, Sylhet and Mymensingh. Any family member is allowed to submit visa application for nonbiometric centers.


Any family member is allowed to collect passports on behalf of other family members subject to proof of identification by original key. Family for purposes consists of a wife, children, brothers, sisters, and parents.


If you are a Bangladeshi citizen and also hold a foreign passport, you need to apply for an Indian visa through a foreign passport.


Your visa application will be rejected if you:-


Suffering from any life-threatening infectious disease.

Suffering from mental illness and traveling to India for purposes other than medical treatment.

Drug addiction or trafficking.

Have been or have been convicted of criminal charges in any country.

Have been deported or expelled from any country.

Submitted insufficient/incomplete/false documents

Found in possession of unauthorized travel documents

No material information has been suppressed

or any other reason which, in the opinion of the concerned authority, would render the applicant ineligible for a visa, need not be communicated to the applicant orally or recorded in writing.

Passport Delivery:- Passport can be collected for delivery on or after the date of delivery as mentioned in the receipt at the time of delivery. If the receipt is lost, the applicant has to make a general dairy at the local police station. Passport will be issued after submission of General Dairy (GD) original copy, 1 photograph along with an application at the counter.


Note: Delivery on approval is not allowed


Conditions for Entry into India:-


You may be denied entry to India even after holding a valid visa if the visa was obtained by making false representations or concealing relevant information, whether or not you were aware of those facts.

A change in circumstances has occurred between the date of your application and the date of your arrival in India.

An immigration officer may ask anyone to undergo a medical examination upon arrival in India if deemed necessary.

You must not undertake employment or formal study/research in India unless you have been granted an employment visa or an appropriate visa.

You must leave India after the expiry of the authorized period of stay unless the period is extended by the concerned authorities in India.

You must register with the nearest Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO) if your stay in India is longer than six months for all categories of visas except medical/medical attendant visas. For Medical/Medical Attendant visa, registration with the nearest FRRO is mandatory within 14 days of arrival in India.

or any other reason in the opinion of the concerned authority which would render the applicant ineligible for entry into India, shall not necessarily be communicated to the person orally or in writing.


Diplomatic / Official Passport Holders:


Holders of diplomatic passports/official passports issued by the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh do not require a visa to travel to India and stay in India for up to 45 days.


Applicants from the following categories can apply for visa online and submit their online visa application in person or through an authorized representative at Indian High Commission, Dhaka between 1000 to 1300 hours on working days. Applicants must fill the application form online and such applications will be entertained even if the date of appointment falls after the date of submission of application to the High Commission.


(i) Officials of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh traveling to India for official purposes – their application should be accompanied by a verbal note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.

(ii) Holders of diplomatic/official passports of other countries (who are otherwise required to obtain a visa to travel to India) traveling to India for official purposes - their application must be accompanied by a note verbale from the diplomatic mission concerned.

(iii) Staff working in the United Nations and other international organizations traveling to India for official purposes – their applications must be accompanied by a note verbale from the office concerned.


(iv) Applicants belonging/working with Diplomatic Missions, United Nations Organizations or recognized International Organizations located in Dhaka, wishing to submit their visa applications are hereby requested to kindly send a soft copy of “NOTE VERBALE” to visahelp.dhaka@mea.gov.in before submitting the application to IVAC, Dhaka.


Visa Helpline will send an email regarding the submission of the application to IVAC, Dhaka, a copy of which will be retained by the applicant/sender, who will carry the application form while submitting the application. Processed passports should also be collected from IVAC, Dhaka.


To avoid rejection or delay, please check the following before submitting –


  • Passport validity is more than six (06) months
  • A minimum of two (02) blank pages are left in the passport
  • Passport number is correctly mentioned in the application form
  • Expiration date and date of the passport are correctly mentioned
  • The name is correctly mentioned in the application
  • The scanned image will appear on the application printout
  • Old passport, if any attached to the application. GD copy should be attached if lost

1. Tourist Visa:  Bangladeshi nationals visiting India to meet family members, companions or youngsters. For the travel industry, journey, or some other reason. 

2. Medical Visa: Bangladesh nationals visiting India for particular clinical treatment with earlier arrangements from a perceived specialist/center/medical clinic.

How to apply Indian Visa Application? 


India is one of the favorite destinations for travelers. Keeping this in mind, the country's government has provided an opportunity to apply for a visa online. So let's know the Indian visa application rules-

Online registration is generally required for Indian Tourist e-Visa, Indian Business e-Visa, Indian Medical e-Visa, and Indian Medical Attendant e-Visa.

1. Original passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of visa application. The passport should have at least two blank pages. Copy of passport (second page and third page and endorsement of validity extension, if any) should be attached.

2. All old passports should be submitted along with the application form.

3. A recent (not more than 3 months old) 2x2 (350x350 pixels) size color photograph with full face visible and the back of the photograph should be white.

4. Proof of residence: National ID card and copy of electricity, telephone, gas or water bill.

5. PROFESSIONAL PROOF : Certificate from employer. In case of student, ID card copy of the educational institution should be attached, retired person's retirement papers, business person's trade certificate.

6. Proof of financial solvency: Applicants must provide a foreign currency endorsement equivalent to USD 150 per person or international credit card or copy of last 3 months bank statement.

7. The applicant has to scan the photograph and upload it in the designated space provided in the online application form.

8. All old passports must be submitted along with the application form on the day of appointment; Applications without all old passports will be considered incomplete.

9. For Bangladeshi passport holders all Indian visa applications are accepted on a walk-in basis.

What to do after online registration

After the online registration, the visa application has to be submitted at the meeting. Residents of divisions other than Chittagong, Rajshahi, Sylhet, and Khulna divisions can apply for visa at IVAC, Dhaka (Yamuna Future Park).

Others can apply for visa at IVAC, Khulna/IVAC, Mymensingh/IVAC, Jessore/IVAC, Barisal/IVAC, and Sylhet.

Passport holders who are residents of the Chittagong division ie Comilla, Noakhali, and Brahmanbaria can apply for visa at IVAC, Chittagong.

Those residing in the Rajshahi division can apply for visa at IVAC, Rajshahi / IVAC, Rangpur. Those residing in the Sylhet division can apply for a visa at IVAC, Sylhet/ IVAC.

Visa fee

Bangladeshi passport holders will not need any visa fee to apply for an Indian visa. However, 800 rupees must be paid as Visa Processing Fee (VPF).

Visit this link https://payment.ivacbd.com to pay the visa process fee. Select the selected High Commission for your application by entering here. Enter web file number (2 times). Then select the prescribed IVAC to apply for. Select your visa application type. Enter your personal details (eg name, number, email id).

After filling in all the information, payment can be made online.
